In case you have not been out to see our facilities lately, we now have what we call Free Range Rooms for the cats.  No more cages. They have kitty condos and plenty of toys and can play and socialize with the other cats.  Consider adopting two cats.  They will be much happier with a playmate and so much more love and affection for you.

Our Critter Cards for 2010 are available for only $5.  There are 20 merchants participating with substantial discounts.  They are First Choice Hair Cutters, Xceptional Art, Foods for Living, Padrone’s Pizza, Nelson & Bob’s Auto Care, Lisa Romes, Massage Therapist, East of Chicago Pizza, Family Video, Applebee’s, Scotty’s, Tim Horton’s, Asian Grill Buffet, Captain D’s Seafood, Buffalo Wild Wings, Nancy’s, Casavieja, Friendly’s Restaurant, Quizno’s Subs, Burger King and Carmine’s.  They are available at First Choice Hair Cutters, Padrone’s Pizza and, of course, the shelter.  Or, call Nancy Porter at 395-2125 and she will gladly deliver them to you.

Easter

With Easter just around the corner, let’s ensure a happy holiday for people and animals alike.

 

Be aware that many plants, including Easter lilies, are poisonous and can be fatal if eaten by animals.

 

Keep all baskets of candy out of reach.  Chocolate is toxic to cats and dogs and plastic grass, which is used for decoration in many baskets, can get caught in the intestines and require surgery to remove it if it is eaten.

 

Rabbits, chicks and ducks are popular purchases at Easter.  But, unfortunately, many end up being neglected.  It’s hard to resist these adorable animals.  But as with cats and dogs, they require a commitment of daily care for the rest of their lives and don’t make good gifts.  Instead, consider buying chocolate rabbits as Easter gifts for your children and friends.
